In 2023, Mandarin Museum debuted its newest permanent exhibit, The Untold Story of Black Mandarin. Recounting approximately 250 years of Black history and community-building, it begins in the 1760s when British plantations dotted the St. Johns River and ends in the 21st century as residents and descendants strive to mark and memorialize the remaining vestiges of a community fragmented by outside commercial development.
